1964 GTO Convertible

The Pontiac GTO is considered by many the first true muscle car. When other manufacturers were concentrating on their full size lines Pontiac saw the potential for dropping a big block engine into an intermediate frame and marketing it at a budget price. 1964 was the year that started it all when Pontiac put a GTO package together as an option on their LeMans and Tempest models. This 1964 convertible is PHS certified and was just frame off restored! It originally had a 4 bbl carb but it was converted to a Tri-Power (3x2) set up during the restoration. Other than the carbs, the performance exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and the new period correct Hurst rims this car is at was new in 1964. The original intake is included but the original carb isn’t. This classic beauty has all the right options and is fully documented by the Pontiac Historical Society which includes a reproduction of the original manifest, card order form (w/ codes), window sticker, build sheet and of course it has the original trim tag. This is a numbers matching car with the original 389ci block (code 78X) converted to a (3x2) Tri-Power. Both the original engine and the original M20 4 speed wide ratio transmission (code W) were rebuilt during the restoration and perfectly deliver power to the original 10 bolt posi traction rear end with a performance axle (code 708) and 3:23 gears (code K). It has beautiful Marimba Red paint (code L) with Parchment interior (code 219) and an ivory top (code 1). Additional options include soft ray tinted glass on all windows, front seat belts, bucket seats, power convertible top, windshield wipers/washers, center console, dual exhaust, deluxe steering wheel, power steering, deluxe spare wheel cover, back up lamps, dual horns, courtesy lamp and a push button radio. This car is the real deal and will be a great addition to any GTO collection.
