1972 Trans Am 455 HO

This gorgeous numbers matching 4 owner Trans Am is PHS certified and has an unbelievably low 46,307 original miles. Within in the last year and half and 150 miles it underwent a complete restoration and is in awesome condition. It has a show quality paint job atop a laser straight body. The original engine was completely rebuilt in 2006 and was in such good shape that it did not need boring out. Only 1,286 Trans Ams were produced in 1972 of which only 458 had the M-22 transmission. Furthermore, it is estimated that only 140 four speeds were produced in Lucerne Blue (Code 26). The Lucerne Blue made its last appearance in 1972 and the "racing' stripes that were first introduced in '69 also made their last appearance and no Trans Am would be striped as such until the 15th anniversary T/A in 1984. Standard equipment on this car included the LS5 High Output 455 ci engine, M-22 4 speed transmission, Formula steering wheel, engine turned aluminum trimmed instrument panel, Rally gauges, clock, tachometer, special identification, front air dam, rear deck spoiler, shaker hood, 15” Rally II wheels w/ trim rings, recessed windshield wipers, body colored mirrors, LH remote mirror, power steering, power brakes, safe-t-track differential and a dual exhaust system with chrome extensions. Optional equipment on this car includes the AM/FM Stereo (U58), Soft Ray tinted windshield (A02), rear window defogger (Y90) and the custom trim group (Y90). The Blue Morokide (Code 211) interior that was new for 1972 is completely original except for the replacement carpet kit and floor mats. The H.O. 455 looks awesome with the original functional Shaker hood scoop which lets air in through the rearward facing inlet. Underneath the shaker hood is a big Rochester Quadrajet 4-bbl carburetor that sits atop a cast aluminum intake manifold. This beast fires up on the first crank and sounds just plain nasty ripping through the dual exhaust system. If you have been looking for a 2 nd generation T/A you will be hard pressed to find another in this condition with such low mileage!
