1978 El Camino 355
This sweet El Camino has a very straight rust free body that was repainted 16 years ago and still shines nicely. It was tastefully optioned with a fiberglass cowl hood, Cragar vintage rims and a one of kind custom grille that really sets off the look of this classic beauty. At the same time the car was repainted the 305 was replaced with a 4 bolt main 350 V8 which was bored .030 over making it a 355. The rebuild was done by Gustaf Engine and Machine out of Moline, IL at 87,600 miles which was 55,000 miles ago. During its rebuild it was upgraded with a mild cam and flat topped pistons making it very streetable. It is fed by a 4bbl Quadra Jet that sits atop a Weiand performance intake manifold and is sparked by an Accel HEI Super Coil ignition. It also has a performance exhaust that has a nasty rumble when you are in the gas pedal and is quite mellow at normal cruising speeds. The estimated 300hp being produced by the 355 is transferred to the ground via a performance built T350 tranny and a 10 bolt rear end with 3:08 gears that are perfect for cruising. It was also retrofitted with a custom built 3 core radiator during its rebuild. It has been serviced regularly since its completion and has recently been upgraded with front and rear sway bars as well as new air bags. Not only that but the B.F. Goodrich tires have just over a 1,000 miles on them. Factory options include ice cold A/C, cruise control, tilt steering, power steering and power brakes. The original 8 track player was replaced with an aftermarket cassette player but will be included if requested and an aftermarket tach, temp gauge and oil pressure gauge have also been installed. The interior is all original except for the seats and has held up incredibly well. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition, everything works as it should and it is need of nothing. The best part about this car is that it has been very fairly priced and is investment that is sure to appreciate!
