1981 DeLorean DMC 12

In 1973 General Motors executive John Zachary DeLorean suggested the construction of a completely new sports car which GM refused to explore. This prompted DeLorean to quit his job and build his own sports car. It was launched in 1981 and today it is one of best known cars in the world! Designed to be a long lasting car, the DeLorean DMC 12 body is made of stainless steel, which on most cars was left unpainted. Of course one of its most striking features are the gullwing doors. Mounted behind the passenger compartment is the 2.849 liter aluminum block V6 engine (developed jointly by Peugeot, Renault and Volvo) which is mated to a crisp shifting 5 speed transmission. The DeLorean’s main claim to fame came in 1985 when it starred in the Hollywood movie 'Back to the future'. In the two following sequels, the DMC 12 again starred as a time machine. This particular example has just over 23,000 original miles and has been pampered since day one. It is completely rust free as it has never been driven in the winter time. Not only that but the frame still has its original epoxy on it! It is completely original except for the stainless steel radiator, fuse panel upgrade, stereo equalizer and battery. Included with your purchase are a box of original maintenance items that have been serviced such as belts, hoses and the original fuses. Additionally you will also receive all service manuals, a car cover and a DeLorean front end bra. Everything is in perfect working order except the A/C which is need of R12 or a R134 conversion. If you are considering purchasing a piece of automobile history the only way you will find one in this condition for this price is if you have a working “Flux Capacitor” to transport you back to 1981!
