1984 Lincoln Town Car Cartier Edition

In 1981 the Town Car became its own model in the Lincoln lineup and served as the flagship for the Lincoln brand as well as for Ford Motor Company. The Town Car featured a V8 engine, body on frame design, rear-wheel drive and large exterior and interior dimensions which made it the largest car in produced in the US during this time. Consumer Guide cited the vehicle's strengths as comfort, materials, ride quality, braking and was considered one of the safest cars available in the U.S. Lincoln made its modern models visually suggest their older namesakes with a vinyl roof that swept down the center pillar as part of a raised molding and opera lamps which suggested a partition between front and rear seats while no vinyl was applied to the front section of the roof over the driver. In 1981 Lincoln relied nearly entirely on full-size cars until they decided to split the Continental and the Town Car into separate models. The Town Car remained the traditional full-size Lincoln while the Continental became a mid-size car. In 1984 the script “Town Car” was removed from above the headlights, the padded vinyl coach roof only covered half of the roof and the rear window openings were made smaller on the Cartier and Signature series models. Inside, the Signature Series and Cartier models featured 6-way power seats with manual seatback recliners up front and all models featured a 50/50 split front bench seat. During 1984 the Town Car featured many advanced luxury options for its time such as an optional full-function trip computer with digital display which showed the driver miles to empty and an estimated time of arrival. Another unique feature was the keypad system which could lock all four doors, unlock the doors or open the trunk via a five digit combination. This Cartier Edition is a one owner car with 67,516 original miles. It was never driven during the winter and was always stored in a climate controlled facility which explains how this completely original car has no rust except for some minor surface rust on the undercarriage. It has been regularly serviced and everything is working properly as it should. This car has been extremely well preserved and is need of nothing but a new home!
